Reporting to the Audience Services Manager, the Front of House Manager will support the operations of the of Aurora Town Square (Town-owned facility). The Front of House Manager implements audience services to ensure a safe and the highest quality customer service experience to patrons who attend events at Aurora Town Square.

This part-time casual position requires the successful candidate to be available on a flexible schedule evenings and weekends to support Front of House Team and events. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills,





have proven Front of House and volunteer management skills and be a generous and compassionate team member. They will be a key member to deliver on the Centre’s reputation for highest customer service quality. The Front of House Manager will maintain strong relationships with Town facilities and operational staff as needed, the rental clients, patrons, and volunteers.

Context and Summary

The Aurora Cultural Centre is the resident tenant of Aurora Town Square’s Aurora Museum and Cultural Centre.

As with all positions at the Centre, the Front of House Manager will be required to be flexible, punctual and possess excellent customer service skills. This position will require multi-tasking and liaising with various members of the team to realize the events for every client.

- Manage events for Aurora Town Square; required whenever there is a public audience (excluding educational activities that are supervised)
- Read and follow Front of House instructions for events






- Coordinate with technical staff to ensure events run smoothly and on schedule
- Provide a written detailed Front of House post-show report upon completion of every event to be submitted to the Audience Services Manager
- Manage and document volunteer assignments and behaviour during events
- Train volunteers as necessary
- Report on volunteer skills, activities and behaviour to Audience Services Manager
- Execute audience fire safety program and protocols with volunteers as required
- Execute medical and other emergency protocols as required. Inform Town Facilities and Customer Service Representatives in the event of an emergency.
- Run preshow meeting with volunteers prior to patron access to discuss tasks, responsibilities and event details.





Review and communicate the fire safety plan with volunteers at this time.
- Provide front of house services for all events of the corporation where public are present including
- - patron management,
- client management,
- support artist hospitality,
- troubleshooting and problem solving

- Enthusiastically engage visitors to the Centre
- Support documentation of events (filming, photography, hashtags, social media) in a manner that is appropriate for the event
- Assist with pre-post show activations as required
- Coordinate with catering/hospitality/bar service provider as required
- Assist with event setup and takedown as required
- other duties as required







The staff of the Centre work in a team atmosphere and as such all employees of the Centre may be expected to step beyond what is regularly thought of as their own duties to assist members of the team as required.

Education, Skills and Experience

Education

- Minimum 2 year post secondary education in an arts related field

Experience

- Experience in a previous Front of House performing arts environment
- Experience in volunteer-run settings required
- Experience working directly in Front of House for events
- Event coordination experience
- Experience working with and/or delegating tasks to event volunteers






- Smart Serve and First Aid/CPR-C certified required (condition of employment)

Skills

- Enthusiasm, creativity, and strong organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Sensitivity and diplomacy
- Information presentation and delegation skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a setting individually and as part of an active team
- Ability to maintain events as scheduled and fulfill demanding deadlines
- Troubleshooting skills
- Social Media skills an asset
- POS system experience an asset

Salary:

The hourly salary range is $20-25/hour.

In person at Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria Street, Aurora Ontario

A criminal record search will be required of the successful candidate, at their own expense, that is acceptable to the Aurora Cultural Centre.
