Acuren Group is currently recruting a Fitness-For-Service engineer to support our Engineering Department and grow our fitness-for-service capabilities.
Full time permanent position
Candidates must be local to Calgary or willing to relocate
Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week
Perform advanced fitness-for-service assessments on pressure vessels, piping, tanks, pipelines, and other typical oilfield components.
Conducting complex technical investigations, communicating with clients and field staff to gather evidence, performing analysis and preparing reports.
Identifying and evaluating new technologies in engineering and the industry and provide recommendations for adoption.
Acting as an expert for legal and insurance cases involving materials failures.
Mentoring and training less experienced staff.
Ensuring efficient use of resources and delivery of results.
Proactively taking the initiative to understand customer requirements and needs to ensure expectations are met.
Identifying additional services and products and new technologies to meet ongoing client needs.
Meeting with customers to discuss report findings, recommendations and conclusions and following up with clients regarding implementation of recommendations.
Mechanical/Civil/Material Engineer with background in nonlinear mechanics, fatigue and fracture mechanics, and nonlinear finite element analysis, a master's or PhD degree in the related field would be an asset.
Minimum of 10 years' experience with the use of FE commercial codes such as Abaqus, ANSYS, and LS-Dyna.
Preference would be given to candidates with familiarity with Abaqus (and its keywords) and Abaqus Python scripting. P.
Eng Registered with Alberta or ability to register with Alberta.
Thorough understanding of API 579, ASME VIII for Pressure vessels, and API 650/653 for Tanks.
Understanding of pipeline design (CSA Z662) and operation considered an asset.
Familiarity with the Canadian National Building codes.
Understanding material testing related to carbon steel.
Experience with performing material characterization testing based on the applicable standard test methods such as tensile, cyclic, fatigue crack growth, and Charpy tests and ability to interpret the test results would be an asset.
Knowledge of soil mechanics and familiarity with different soil constitutive models would be an asset.
Application of NDT methodologies and how data is captured to support FFS is an asset.
Ability to resolve issues and problems that are not clearly defined.
Ability to manage large amounts of data effectively.
Ability to translate knowledge into practical solutions.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively respond to different levels of understanding, and produce professional reports.
Proficiency in MS Office programs and driver license, Class 5 (clean record) required.
