The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
The Enforcement division enforces Alberta securities laws by investigating and prosecuting breaches of those laws with an eye for preventing and stopping current and future misconduct.
Reporting to the Director, Enforcement, the Manager,
Evidence and Analytics is responsible for leading and providing operational direction to the Evidence Management and Analytics teams. The established Evidence Management team is responsible for the control, processing, review, analysis and disclosure of evidence for investigations through to production and disclosure for hearings or trials. The developing Enforcement Analytics team utilizes technology and analytics to improve investigative capabilities and enhance strategic and evidence-based decision-making across the Enforcement division.
- Leading and mentoring the Evidence Management and Analytics teams to achieve Business Plan and Strategic Plan objectives.
- Overseeing the end-to-end evidentiary and electronic discovery (e-discovery) process, including data identification, collection, processing, review and production to support the Enforcement division.
- Improving evidentiary and e-discovery processes and maintaining procedures to ensure that evidence management and control processes are legally compliant and efficient.
- Coaching and guiding evidence management professionals to generate and provide appropriate disclosure packages for proceedings before ASC panels and courts.
- Monitoring and controlling risk associated with e-discovery, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
- Ensuring that consistent and accessible advice related to evidence management and control issues is provided to the Enforcement division.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration and encouraging intellectual curiosity amongst the team and the Enforcement division.
- Participating on external committees or working groups, delivering presentations and engaging in outreach.
- Attracting, retaining and developing team members who reflect ASC values and a commitment to high quality performance aimed at protecting investors and effectively deterring offenders.
- Growing and overseeing a small team of data analytics professionals with the goal of leveraging the implementation of new technology (in collaboration with IT) that will enable robust data analytics capabilities.
- Developing and implementing a data analytics strategy for the Enforcement division.
- A minimum of eight years’ experience in e-discovery, litigation support, or related fields.
- A minimum of five years’ experience leading people and managing change and projects.
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Law, Criminal Justice, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- An understanding of relevant legal procedures, data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong knowledge of e-discovery tools and data management software.
- The ability to influence and advocate for the adoption of new technology and process improvements.
- Interest in ongoing development of expertise in data analytics and technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in engaging with external stakeholders, including participation on committees or collaborative working groups.
- The demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Strong complex problem-solving, project management, and presentation skills.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Police Information Check with results satisfactory to the ASC prior to commencement of employment.
