The Team
The Forestry Digital Services (FDS) team is driving change by modernizing over 30 forestry applications to align with B.C.’s vision for sustainable forestry and StrongerBC. Established in 2022, FDS is made up of four collaborative teams of 5-9 people, including Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Designers, Developers, and forestry business partners. Our team values inclusivity and diversity, bringing together a wide range of expertise to create digital solutions that are sustainable, user-focused, and responsive to the needs of Indigenous communities, industry, and government partners.
The Role
As a Full Stack Developer - Level 4 with Forestry Digital Services,
you’ll play a pivotal role in leading both technical direction and hands-on development. You’ll guide the modernization of critical forestry applications, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and user-friendly. By collaborating with a diverse, cross-functional team, mentoring junior developers, and driving innovation, you’ll have a direct impact on sustainable forest management in B.C. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to environmental sustainability and improving services that benefit citizens and forestry partners alike.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in a computer science related field and 2 years of related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field and 3 years of related experience; OR
- Diploma in a computer science related field and 4 years related experience; OR
- Certificate or coursework in a computer science related field and 5 years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related experience must include experience from each of the following:
- Experience as a Full Stack Developer.
- Experience using a variety of modern development tools, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript libraries, relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with API development and integration and continuous development environments.
- Experience working with Openshift, AWS and DevOps pipelines (e.g. Github Actions).
- Experience in geospatial development libraries and geoprocessing tools (e.g., JTS, GDAL, Leaflet).
- Experienced in utilizing spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial) for efficient storage and retrieval of geospatial data..
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Working in an agile development environment with User Experience (UX)/Service Designer teams, Software Developers, and Scrum Masters to iteratively create or improve digital products and services from conception to production.
- Software Development best practices such as: simplicity, coherence, testing, maintenance, and analysis.

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
