Job Title: Surface Land Analyst
Location: Calgary, AB
Length: 12-Month contract to start
Rotation: Mon-Fri 8 hours a day
Description:
As a Surface Land Analyst, you will support the Surface Land team and collaborate with the E&PS; (Environmental and Property Solutions) team and Area Land Agents. You will handle site access agreements, including road use for end-of-life surface sites, across operating areas in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, and North of 60. Strong experience in Surface Freehold land is essential.
You will represent the client with professionalism and integrity while working with internal and external stakeholders. This contract position reports to the Surface Land Manager and may evolve into a permanent role based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and process land access documents for well-sites, pipelines, and remediation/reclamation sites.
2. Maintain data integrity within the CS Explorer land system to meet compliance requirements.
3. Respond to queries from landowners, third parties, and internal stakeholders.
4. Collaborate with the Global Business Center on various tasks.
5. Attend E&PS; team meetings as required.
6. Stay updated on industry policies and regulations affecting surface rights.
7. Adhere to Surface Land and Corporate procedures, including business controls and cyber-security policies.
8. Demonstrate strong business judgment, analytical skills, and work ethic.
9. Communicate effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
10.
Proficient in CS Explorer (or other land systems), IHS AccuMap, SPIN, Abadata, and Microsoft Office.
11. Undertake other project tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. 8+ years of experience as a Surface Land Analyst or Administrator, with a proven track record in a similar role.
2. Graduation from an accredited Surface Land Program or equivalent experience.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Strong knowledge of land access, leases, right-of-ways, and surface/subsurface rights across asset lifecycles.
2. Proficient in commercial negotiations and contract management.
3. Expertise in title, courthouse documents, easements, and acquisition processes.
4. Ability to manage external relationships, including landowners, government officials,
and service providers.
5. Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution.
6. Advanced knowledge of land systems and technology tools (CS Explorer, IHS AccuMap, SPIN, Abadata).
