Covenant House has been dedicated to its mission of serving youth on the street and to protect and safeguard all youth with absolute respect and unconditional love. Since 1982, Covenant House has supported more than 100,000 young people.
Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for direct implementation of the Covenant House philosophy, mission statement and policies as they pertain to Community Support Services (CSS).
Responsibilities:
- Providing administrative support to the CSS Manager and program staff; and maintaining a safe environment for all concerned through implementation of the Covenant Principles and Mission Statement.
- Formatting and maintaining accurate client statistics; collecting data via ETO and preparing a comprehensive departmental month end report.
- Creating, organizing and distributing a weekly Drop -in plan census; informing staff of any relevant external agency communications.
- Cataloguing all incidents and intake alert reports and updating active cards on a bi-weekly basis.
- Creating, maintaining and archiving client files; monitoring clients’ actions and behaviour in the reception area and informing staff of any volatile situations.
- Providing administrative support to CSS youth workers.
- Obtaining all identifying client information upon their entry to the reception area and referral of clients to external agencies.
- Screening clients for all weaponry and informing them of the policy regarding illegal weapons.
- Organizing/ Maintaining Youth Mail.
- Collecting and recording Drop-in weekly numbers report.
- Inventory and Food Bank order.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education.
- Excellent judgment and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to read, write and communicate well.
- Computer Skills; Microsoft office (Word, Excel, e-mail).
- Experience at record keeping and minute taking. Knowledge of services available through external agencies.
- Comfort working with transient street youth.
