Program Manager, Global Pluralism Award (permanent)

Position: Manager, Global Pluralism Award

Type of Contract: Permanent full-time

Location: 330 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON

Start Date: January 16, 2025

Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000

- Educating for Pluralism: Building the capacity of educators and schools to advance pluralism and supporting leadership for pluralism

- Global Pluralism Award:





Celebrating and supporting the work of worldwide leaders working to build more peaceful societies that respect differences

- Peace and Conflict: Applying a pluralism lens to support and sustain peacebuilding processes around the world

About the Global Pluralism Award

The Global Pluralism Award recognizes pluralism in action. Presented every other year to individuals, organisations, governments and businesses from around the world, the Award celebrates the inspiring and brave work that is helping to build more inclusive societies where diversity is valued and protected.

In addition to a financial Award,





the Centre works with our Award laureates to develop a program of in-kind support and engagement to increase the visibility of their work and impact. This may include communications support, opportunities to engage in programmatic activities of the Centre and/or engagement in joint initiatives.

The Award program will be marking 10 years in 2025, celebrating the impact of 50 laureates working in 30+ countries, providing an important moment to leverage this remarkable, global asset to inspire leadership for pluralism around the world. To mark this anniversary, we will also be developing approaches to deepen the Centre’s engagement with Award laureates and strengthen collaborations across Award cohorts.

About the position

The Centre requires a full-time Program Manager to support a growing set of initiatives managed by the Award program team.





This includes leading the multi-stage selection process, organizing our Award ceremony and other global events, developing and implementing programming to foster continued connection and engagement with our laureates and working advance pluralism in different regions.

Main duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Partnerships, the Manager, Global Pluralism Award will lead or contribute to GCP’s operations in the following areas:

- Manage all aspects for the implementation and strategic direction of the Award Program, coordinate human and financial inputs; build and maintain relationships with Canadian and international partners; meet all program-related reporting and accountability requirements, including financial management, budgeting,





performance measurement, and contribute to shared systems/tools to ensure best practices in project/program management.

- Lead on the development and implementation of a strategy to deepen the Centre’s engagement with Award laureates and strengthen collaborations across cohorts. Liaise with stakeholders and partners on opportunities for collaboration in Canada and internationally.

- Working closely with the Centre’s Communications and Public Affairs team, develop communications products and develop and/or implement initiatives to engage Canadian and global audiences on the Award Program and wider work of GCP.

- Contribute to the Centre’s efforts to mobilize resources to support Award programming, through engagement of institutional,





public and private donors; lead relationships with current donors.

- Provide day-to-day supervision of staff working on the Award Program; contribute to formal performance assessment processes; manage processes for recruitment of new staff.

- Track Global Pluralism Award program results and impact for program improvement; oversee reporting to program stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of commitment to human rights, social justice and pluralism. They will possess a deep understanding of challenges facing pluralism around the world. They will be a dynamic, resourceful and results-driven individual who identifies opportunities for programmatic growth.

Specifically, this individual will possess:







- A post-secondary degree or combination of training and experience in social sciences, international development, public policy, migration studies, conflict studies or any other relevant discipline or a combination of training and experience related to the position;

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a non-profit or international organization supporting social change, international development, public policy, or other relevant field;

- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage practitioner networks and/or alumni engagement;

- Experience in all phases of program/project management, including coordination of human and financial inputs, reporting and accountability requirements;

- Experience in supervision of staff,





including managing processes for performance assessment and recruitment of new staff;

- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in English;

- Experience managing consultants and service providers;

- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues;

- Able to build and maintain strong relationships with partners and donors;

- Experience in selection /decision-making processes;

- Ability to travel internationally.
