CSO Program Coordinator

Full-Time Permanent Position

For over 50 years Nellie’s has been providing shelter and support for marginalized women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area. We are mandated to operate programs and services for women and children who had or are experiencing violence, poverty, and homelessness. Nellie’s works to lessen homeless for women and their children whether the cause is family violence, mental health, or any other reason that results in dealing with the impact from trauma. In addition to providing shelter, our programs are designed to reduce the isolation that often comes with abuse.







Our core operations involve our 38-bed emergency shelter for women and their children who are homeless or escaping violent situations. Nellie’s is currently looking to hire a CSO Program Coordinator who will be responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and facilitating community programming based on the needs of service users.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Program Support and Services

- Utilizing a community engagement and logic model to develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate programs.
- Prepare and monitor program budgets.
- Develop and implement a community engagement annual plan.
- Develop and facilitate peer lead focus groups to collect feedback.
- Maintain appropriate program statistics for reporting purposes.






- Provide crisis support and referrals to women accessing drop-in programs.
- Develop and facilitate peer support groups, workshops, and social and recreational activities.
- Participate and act as a lead in community coalitions that is reflective of Nellie’s mandates.
- Ongoing research on barriers and services gaps in the community.
- In consultation with the CSO Supervisor, or her designate to develop new programming.

Administration

- Develop data collection processes to monitor program budgets and to keep program statistics accurate.
- Prepare funding reports as required.
- Prepare monthly budget reports.
- In consultation with the CSO Supervisor or her designate, prepare funding proposals as required.

Social Justice,





Community Education and Outreach

- Outreach and participation in community coalitions.
- Participation on board committees as required.
- Liaise with Second Harvest, Women’s Health, Legal Aid and other relevant community service providers.
- Active participation in social justice issues.

General Duties

- Work cooperatively as a member of the CSO Team.
- Attend regular team meetings, staff training sessions, and planning meetings.
- Oversee volunteers and students as required.
- Assist with other duties as required, aiding in the efficient operation of the organization.
- Must be willing to facilitate programming some evenings, as required.

Qualifications

- Post-Secondary Educations with a combination of direct experiences in the VAW sector.






- Proven experience in project and program management.
- Extensive knowledge of providing community programs.
- Strong analytical understanding of GBV and the intersectionality of system barriers with a trauma informed lens.
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
- Food Handling Certification
- Proven understanding and application of a feminist AR/AO framework.
- Able to plan executive events.

Hours: 35 hrs/week Monday to Friday with some evenings as required.

Salary: $51,402 annually
