The Senior Advisor, EMS Retention is dedicated to supporting and celebrating Alberta’s growing provincial EMS workforce. An essential member of the EMS Employee Programs team, you will use expertise to design, implement, and evaluate innovative retention strategies tailored to the unique needs of public safety professionals. Your work plays a vital role in sustaining a healthy and engaged workforce, directly impacting employee satisfaction and retention. Key responsibilities include:
1. Identify, design, and manage targeted retention strategies to align with the career progression needs of public safety professionals;
2. Develop and oversee formal and informal mentorship options to support career growth, leadership,
and career coaching;
3. Lead the design, implementation, and management of recognition programs such as award ceremonies and informal appreciation initiatives;
4. Create and implement succession planning resources to support staff in achieving long-term career goals;
5. Evaluate and enhance onboarding programs to ensure positive experiences for new recruits;
6. Utilize or develop systems for gathering data through stay, transfer, and exit surveys, analyzing feedback to shape and improve initiatives;
7. Leverage data and research expertise to evaluate the success of programs, report findings, and make informed recommendations for continuous improvement;
8. Identify, design,
and manage enrichment opportunities for front-line EMS practitioners to enhance their professional growth and job satisfaction;
9. Collaborate with staff and leaders to tailor programs that reflect our priorities as well as individual and targeted needs;
10. Partner with the EMS Employee Programs team to contribute to leadership excellence;
11. Organize and manage large-scale retention initiatives across a geographically dispersed workforce, ensuring programs are delivered on time and within budget.
