Duties

Current Resource Conservation Manager priorities:
• Leading a team of high functioning resource conservation staff
• Working collaboratively as part of an integrated park management team.
• Leading RNUP’s ambitious ecological restoration and farmland enhancement projects in collaboration with farmers, schools, local conservation authorities, Indigenous partners, stakeholders and volunteers
• Oversee the implementation of the Park’s Multi-Species-at-Risk Action Plan
• Providing leadership and oversight for the park’s foundational ecological monitoring program
• Impact assessment work for park real property and asset projects, resource conservation and restoration, and external projects






• Contaminated site assessment and remediation
• Blanding’s Turtle Head-Start Program, in collaboration with partners
• Implementation of a suite of contribution agreements in relation to species at risk recovery and ecological restoration/monitoring
• Strategic liaison with the agriculture community
• Invasive species management
• Supporting Realty in preparing for the transition to Parks Canada agricultural leases
• Support for Cultural Resource Management
• Reporting and briefing on resource conservation related initiatives

Information you must provide
In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)







• Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in natural resource conservation, ecosystem management, environmental sciences, or urban planning or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Significant experience in providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team, including supervision, management, and development of staff.
• Experience in planning, managing, and implementing projects, programs, or initiatives related to natural resource conservation.
• Experience leading initiatives to develop and/or enhance mutually beneficial relationships and agreements with stakeholders and partners.
• Experience providing strategic advice to executives and senior managers on complex issues.
• Significant experience in managing financial resources.

“Significant” is defined as depth and breadth normally gained over four (4) years.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

• Knowledge of major issues, management challenges and partnership opportunities related to natural and cultural resource management and visitor safety management.
• Knowledge of the application of ecosystem based scientific principles for conservation/restoration to support management of protected areas.
• Ability to build, analyze, manage, and critically assess conservation-oriented programs and issues concerning natural and cultural resources.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, partners, stakeholders, other organizations,





Indigenous Peoples and/or communities.
• Ability to manage resources (time, human and material) to achieve planned goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Demonstrates leadership skills (e.g. integrity, teamwork, effective delegation, embraces change).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance
• Must be in possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and abide by uniform policy.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, shift work, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays when required.
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
