What could be more exciting than putting your mark on some of the world's most famous and well-loved fashion brands? We are looking for a Senior Designer to join our growing team in Montreal.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Research marketplace for women's sportswear industry, in order to inform product ideation and conception
Researches and identifies fabric, yarn and trim trends, specifically projecting fashion essentials and silhouettes by month by season.
Shops the markets and retail landscapes to identify appropriate fabrics,
trims, details, and silhouettes for style development.
Does extensive research, online, trend services, retail, and prepares presentation boards to present back to VP, conveying ideas.
Interprets the fashion forecast for the businesses in the context of the merchandise line plan and sales trends
Creates style boards for area of responsibility, showing silhouette and color, fabric, print and pattern options
Selection of prints and work with graphic designer to develop original prints/graphics
Help guide team to create detailed technical drawings and color cads using Adobe Illustrator.
Create styles and tech pack in PLMCommunicates point of view to educate in the specified commodity and get buy in from team
Leverage sales insights to inform product opportunities
Identify product opportunities and drive process to capitalize on opportunities
Collaborate with Merch/Sales to inform the seasonal line plan
Partner with sourcing to build-out core and seasonal fabric and trim palette with an emphasis on quality and sustainability
Participates in fit approval process for the aesthetic point of view with technical designer, fit technician, and production manager
Collaborate with Brand on packaging requirements and seasonal product story telling
Build a cohesive assortment and ensure each product delivers on brand aesthetic, function, and quality
Partner with Product Development and VP sales to create continuity across the entire assortment
Working on proto comments, fabric/lab dips approval
Develops product and initiates the tech pack process, completing all detail “call outs” of the product development.
Proofreads all tech packs and ensures they are correct and are going out on time.
Owns the “hand-off” of a tech pack within the technical designer and outlines the needs of the garment.
Ensure all design timelines are met and product is on track and on time
Awareness and ownership in achieving product margin targets
Visit retail stores consistently to understand how our product is comparing to competitors
Lead and coach tech designer and graphic designers.DO YOU HAVE THE PROFILE WE''RE LOOKING FOR?8+ years of related experience in apparel design
Excellent understanding of the contemporary and lifestyle markets on a global scale
Excellent understanding knits, wovens blouse, bottomsA dedication to quality and sustainability
Ability to take ownership and be accountable
Ability to take direction and be coachable and adaptable
Ability to forecast and understand market trends, and how, if at all, they are to be addressed
Ability to inspire and confidently campaign for ideas and proposals
Thorough understanding apparel constructions, materials, costing and processes
Highly motivated, Creative and Enthusiastic
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Ability to collaborate strategically with cross-functional partners and drive towards shared success and outcomes
Hands-on experience leading teams and developing design talent
Strong proficiency of MS Office Suite
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
Bilingual (French/English); English is necessary for this position since the person will work daily with overseas factories and will need to present sketches and send communications and information to clients outside of Quebec.
Knowledge of PLM is an asset
Experience in creating technical drawings, CAD & illustrations.
