If it becomes known that the position is permanent, it will be reposted and filled in the normal fashion.POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Municipal Enforcement Services, performs tasks related to the care, maintenance and well being of all animals in the Pound, and provides administrative support assistance for the Municipal Enforcement Services section.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs animal care services, such as feeding, shelter hygiene, vaccinations, dietary needs, minor medical and health care treatments.

Checks animals for signs of illness and/or injuries while performing work duties.

Performs janitorial services such as sweeping, mopping floors, garbage removal,





and general cleaning services.

Stores and dispenses litter required in the cages.

Serves public by showing stray and adoptive animals.

Assists in administering content related to animal care adoption and return of animals on all social media platforms.

Maintains licensing and complaint tracking records.

Performs relief reception duties such as answering the telephone.

Provides information regarding City animal regulations and responsible pet ownership.

Liaises with other animal care groups, including rescue groups, shelters, veterinarians and suppliers, as directed.

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:





Secondary School graduation; and Experience in the handling and caring of animals is essential

Skills/Abilities: Excellent customer services skills and the ability of dealing with the public in a tactful and courteous manner

Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software

Ability to work independently and as part of a teamCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Will be required to work shifts, irregular hours, weekends and holidays
