The following Sessional Instructional Assistant positions in the Winter 2025 term are currently available. For course description, and schedule of classes,

The ICCIT invites applications from qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students.

Appointment Dates: January 1 to April 30, 2025 for ‘S’ courses.

Qualifications (unless specified): Must have completed formal education/experience specific to the subject area. Must be familiar with Quercus. Demonstrated teaching excellence and advanced technological skills are required. For marking positions, candidates must be able to work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.

Duties: (unless specified as marking positions may include but are not limited to one or more of the following): Conducting in-person tutorials and maintaining scheduled office hours, students e-mail contact, grading, invigilating, and clerical duties.





The mode of instruction for the courses is in-person.

CCT206H5S Law, Technology and Culture

This course will provide a detailed review of copyright, trademark and patent law with a special emphasis on how they apply to digital media. This course will also review the law of contract as it applies to digital industries and investigate the relevant tort law. In addition, other regulatory issues will be discussed such as telecommunications and broadcasting law both from a Canadian and an international perspective.

January 1-April 30, 2025

LEC0101 Mondays 11-1pm

TUT0101 Mondays 1-2pm, TUT102 Mondays 2-3pm, TUT0103 Mondays 3-4pm, TUT0104 Mondays 4-5pm, TUT0105 Mondays 5-6pm, TUT0106 Mondays 6-7pm

Estimated Number of Positions: 6

Additional Qualifications: Overall academic performance of B+ (3.3 GPA) or above.

Must have a minimum grade of an A (4.0 GPA) or above in a Business Law course, or equivalent course

Preferably completed a course on Technology Law (or equivalent courses) with a minimum grade of A (4.0 GPA).

Research Assistant Or Teaching Assistant Experience Preferred.

Writing sample of research.

BCom/HBA-equivalent undergraduate degree.

Previous evaluation of performance as an Assistant at the University (if applicable).

Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Preference: J.D. and graduate applicants from a law school or business school will be considered based upon their transcripts and course experience.

CCT250H5S Foundations of Digital Design and Production

Advances in technology have provided users ready access to empowering technologies enabling creative and enterprise digital production. This course provides hands-on skills on critical design and production suites and platforms used across industries and disciplines, centred on the development of industry-standard creative design.

January 1-April 30, 2025

LEC0101 Tuesdays 1-3pm, LEC0201 Fridays 5-7pm, LEC0301 Fridays 5-7pm, LEC0401 Fridays 9-11am

PRA0101 Tuesdays 5-6pm, PRA0201 Fridays 4-5pm, PRA0301 Fridays 7-8pm,

Approximate Size of Appointment(s): 50 hours

Additional Qualifications: Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and illustrator are required. Ability to quickly learn technological tools and lead a practical would be an asset. CCT285H5S Immersive Environment Design

Students will develop skills in the areas of bitmap/vector graphics, audio/visual production and editing, 2D/3D modeling and animation, and video game design.





Students will produce immersive environments while addressing and engaging issues of remix culture and intellectual property.

January 1-April 30, 2025

LEC0101 Tuesdays 9-11am

PRA0101 Tuesday 11-12noon

Estimate course enrolment: 48

Approximate size of appointment(s): 65 hours

Estimate number of positions available: 1

Additional Qualifications: Working knowledge of 3D computer graphics applications (Maya) and video game engine applications (Unity); Must be comfortable instructing and troubleshooting student projects in these programs. Experience in building 3d worlds. Practical is one (1) hour in length on Mondays, January to April term at UTM campus -- see UTM Timetable Builder for scheduling details.

The rate of pay for a Sessional Instructional Assistant (SIA) is $52.26 per hour in accordance with CUPE 3902, Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

The Director of the Communication, Culture, Information and Technology shall make any, and all offers of employment on behalf of the Department at UTM. Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
