LOCATION:
Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in Canada, working in hours that align to ET (Eastern Timezone) or PT (Pacific Timezone).
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with a passion for technology, a drive for continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to designing and building high-quality, scalable applications. This role requires collaboration with a dynamic team to surpass business objectives, mentoring emerging talent, and fostering client relationships through innovative back-end solutions.
What You’ll do:
Implement robust, test-driven backend solutions using Nest.JS, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
Develop and maintain APIs to facilitate integration and enhance system interoperability.
Create comprehensive documentation, adhering to best practices in development workflows to streamline project execution.
Leverage your expertise to actively participate in technical discussions and decision-making processes.
Contribute to innovation by proposing cutting-edge solutions to improve the project’s solution and address client needs.
Coach junior engineers, providing guidance on technical skills development and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the team.
What We’re looking for:
Minimum 4+ years of professional programming experience implementing scalable and secure software systems with Nest.JS, and other back-end technologies like C#, Java and Node.JS.
Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and React for full-stack development.
Proven experience implementing secure, efficient backend systems and APIs.
Proficiency in unit testing frameworks and development best practices to ensure code quality and reliability.
Solid foundation in web technologies, backend design patterns, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Understanding of microservices architecture and serverless technologies.
Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies.
Understanding of secure coding practices and common security vulnerabilities in backend systems (e.g. OWASP Top 10).
Experience working with Agile Teams following best practices.
Nice to Haves:
Familiarity with DevOps (AWS, GCP) etc.
Experience with cloud and serverless technologies for scalable solutions.
Background in e-commerce platform development.
Advanced skills in CI/CD, Git, and automated testing.
Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies.
