Position Summary:

ErinoakKids is currently recruiting for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) worker. Reporting to a Clinical Services Supervisor at our Brampton, Peel Region location this individual will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

- Working in a consultative model with Peel children/youth with a confirmed FASD or suspected FASD diagnosis, and their families to develop support plans based on individual strengths and needs, and informed by the child/youth and family’s vision, goals and concerns.
- Supporting connections to a variety of supports and other services (as available) and,





provide information to families as pre- and post-diagnosis support.
- Working with service providers and educators in supporting child/youth to build capacity and identify strategies to meet the needs of the child/youth.
- Providing information to parents, caregivers and school personnel through webinars and presentations.
- Working with youth, and their family and service providers across sectors to plan for a transition from child and youth services to adult services, if required.
- At a local system level, work to improve awareness of FASD and to identify gaps and opportunities for improving supports for FASD.
- Engaging with different cultural groups (e.g. Indigenous, francophone).
- Facilitate parent-to-parent connections.
- Participating in provincially-offered training to increase their own and their organization’s capacity to support children and youth with FASD and their families.

Qualifications:







- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree and minimum three years’ work OR equivalent experience with vulnerable or at-risk populations including special needs
- Demonstrated experience working with children/youth with FASD and their families
- Preference for candidates with behavioral background and experience working with children/youth FASD
- Understanding of the services and supports available to children with FASD in Peel Region
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-sector team
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Solid ability to work in an inter-professional team to create and maintain strong relationships across the organizational and community
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal,





written and oral); able to communicate verbally and in one on one or group situations; ability to communicate in writing by composing clear documents; and the ability to synthesize complex or new ideas into clear messages
- Demonstrated skill in group facilitation with the ability to lead and motivate others through a team oriented approach
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments simultaneously and to adapt quickly to change
- Demonstrated delivery of customer service focus when working with internal and external stakeholders
