Your Opportunity:
This is an advanced clinical position responsible for providing assessment, treatment and follow-up, consultation/collaboration and referral services; with an emphasis on teaching these skills to Family Physicians within an innovative interdisciplinary Primary Care mental health service. Patients referred to the Shared Care consultant by the Primary Care Provider are highly complex and require advanced clinical skills. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis,
treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of Master's Degree required from Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing. Must be registered and in good standing with applicable professional association or college. Must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions if applicable. Minimum of five years post-degree demonstrated experience and excellence in assessment and treatment of mental health and behavioral health disorders preferably in mental health settings Minimum of one year experience in community-based primary care settings with Family Physicians.
Demonstrates superior knowledge and experience working in shared mental health or collaborative care environments providing a full range of services including assessment, treatment, education, research, evaluation and clinical leadership. Extensive training and experience in implementing evidenced based interventions and principles of change theory. Proven ability to effectively establish collaborative relationships; coach, consult, develop capacity and teach mental health and counselling knowledge and skills to Family Physicians through application of principles of adult learning. Demonstrated sound clinical and professional judgement, strong interpersonal and social skills, excellent verbal and written skills and computer skills and knowledge. Travel is required within and around Calgary and area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Superior knowledge of the mental health system,
services and resources and ability to facilitate referrals of primary care provider’s patients. Knowledge of DSM-V and medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions. Self-directed, innovative, flexible and capable of working both autonomously and in collaboration with health professionals. Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents is an asset.
