The Toronto Foundation for Youth Involvement in Politics (TFYIP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth engagement in politics through TFYIP Youth Issue Impact Talks Forum, Youth Policy Impact and Youth Political Engagement Barrier Research Think Tank and our Political Engagement Education Initiatives. Founded by Javon Samuel and Viktor Elias, TFYIP aims to empower youth voices and provide opportunities for civic participation.
Role Description
This is a volunteer remote position for a Deputy Chief Executive Officer. The Deputy CEO will be responsible for overseeing all executives and their departments, these include: corporate finance, operations management,
programming and events operations and strategic annual planning for TFYIP. Daily tasks include collaborating with the executive team, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the organization's financial sustainability.
Responsibilities below:
- Reports to the CEO every week end with end of week exec reports
- Oversees and supervises all organizational departments and their executive officers
- Oversees all organizational operations (ex: finance, programming and events, marketing, board and governance, IT, communications, etc)and reports to CEO on departmental performance, weekly assigned tasks are completed by departmental teams, etc.
- Serves as the Vice Chair of the TFYIP Board of Directors
- Attends important meetings alongside the CEO, including attending events (in person or virtual)
- Checks in with all execs and their departmental teams on a daily basis at least three times a day, ensuring that all operational activities for the day are on track and there are no issues present,
takes note of issues and shares with CEO for troubleshooting/further Board review
Qualifications
- Finance and Business Planning skills
- Operations Management and Strategic Planning abilities
- Sales experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment
- Previous experience in a leadership role
- Knowledge of youth engagement and political landscapes is a plus
