Job Description

Audio-Visual Technician

The Audio-Visual Technician supports the sanctuary AV system for worship service on Sunday mornings, runs presentation software and assists in setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment as needed. Currently we are live-streaming on Youtube but we may move to Zoom in March.

Hours: Average hours will be 4 hrs per week,





which includes Sunday mornings from 9:00am - 12:00pm. The AV Technician should be available to work on Christmas Eve, Good Friday, & Easter during the worship services (or will arrange for congregational volunteers). Additional hours for special services as needed.

Responsibilities:

Sunday Pre-Service

- Set up for service and install audio visual equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions, setting up recording equipment if needed.
- Test and resolve equipment issues.
- Diagnose and correct media system problems.
- Confirm worship schedule with office staff

Sunday During Service

- Responsible for monitoring sound levels during service as needed.
- Determine camera requirements
- Train volunteers to work the AV system during worship to cover for the AV technician approved days off.

Sunday Post Service







- Note any broken/faulty equipment and take it out of service if possible.
- Clean audio visual equipment and store properly.
- Report any deficiencies in equipment to the Chair of the Worship Committee.

Train volunteers to work the AV system during worship to cover for the AV technician’s approved days off in coordination with the Worship Committee. Maintain an audio/visual volunteer list and develop a scheduling system for the volunteers. Provide the volunteers with a how-to document for all tasks required in the sounds room (including streaming content).

Duties for Audio-Visual Technician

- Work collaboratively with other staff members as part of the Ministry and staff team;
- Attend staff meetings when requested.
- Attend Worship Committee meetings when necessary.






- Train volunteers to assist with Audio-Visual requirements.
- Submit time sheets monthly to payroll.

Skills and Experience:

- Knowledgeable and/or experienced in audio visual equipment and software.
- Familiar with setting up microphones (wired and wireless) for vocal and instrumental.
- Familiarity with basic camera positioning.
- Familiar with live-streaming to Youtube.
- Experience with Zoom or other meeting software is an asset.
- Be enthusiastic, respectful, and creative in planning.
- Computer literate.
- Have strong organizational skills, and place value and importance on all aspects of the position.
- Dedication to the position and to keeping all commitments.
- Strong Communication Skills.
- First aid and AED training is an asset.






- An understanding and acceptance of Woodcliff’s Duty of Care Policy.
- Must have current police record check.

Reporting Relationships:

- You work collaboratively and report to the Minister for direction in your AV Tech role.
- Participate in Worship Committee meetings when necessary to represent operational concerns of the AV function as it relates to Woodcliff United’s worship services.
- Regularly report to the Minister and the Ministry and Personnel Committee regarding salary, position conditions, an annual performance review and interactions with other staff.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.64-$24.76 per hour
