Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, this position is responsible for the oversite, development and delivery of quality leisure and therapeutic recreational programs and staff at AbleLiving Services Transitional Care Bed (TCB) Sites. This position co-designs and evaluates recreation programs that improve and maintain the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of clients, which may include seniors, adults and clients with disabilities.
This position oversees the supervision of recreation staff and programming at TCB sites in conjunction with onsite Program Coordinators as appropriate, student placements, and departmental volunteers. This position will also liaise with Program Coordinators at all Community Supportive Housing, Congregate and Outreach programs to aide in the development of recreational based programming to meet the unique needs of clients in those settings. This position is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and performance of all direct reports.
Employment Requirements:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies, Kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Current knowledge in the field of Gerontology and Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, an advantage.
- Possesses excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Alayacare, Point Click Care or other Medical documentation databases and time and attendance systems.
- Demonstrated ability to design and tailor recreation programs to the individual needs of clients and care plan goals, taking into consideration their goals and various levels of ability.
- Strong communication skills are essential in this position.
- Ability to maintain relationships and build positive community networks is essential.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
