The Director of Product Development and Quality Assurance is a key position in the success of the company. The Director oversees and implements policies, objectives, and initiatives relating to product development and QA. The Director is responsible for leading the organization in research and development of new products, product enhancements and product redesign. The Director is tasked with defining and promoting a quality mindset across the entire company and is responsible for managing all QA functions.
Responsibilities:
· Drives new products in concert with customer needs and business model.
· Collaborates with sales, operations, marketing, and leadership to develop and optimize current and future products for: safety, quality, overall customer satisfaction and maximum profitability.
· Creates and maintains all technical documentation related to new and existing products such as labels, safety data sheets, technical sheets, bill of materials (BOM), production sheets, etc.
· Ensures regulatory compliance of all technical documentation and product formulations.
· Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing materials and products.
· Performs quality control testing and maintains quality control records of finished products and raw materials
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational webinars, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
· Manages CFIA (products approved for use in food premises), Health Canada (NPN and DIN), and FDA (NDC) product applications and licences.
· Manages SR&ED; credits
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO9001:2015 and GMP standards
· Performs ISO9001 and GMP internal audits
· Performs all other related tasks

Prerequisites:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related discipline; preferably Master’s or PhD degree.
- Analytical laboratory experience preferably in quality control or research and development.
- Practical experience in instrumentation
- Experience in analyzing chemical ingredients and solutions
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Flexible, autonomous, self starter
- Works well in a team environment
- Attentive to detail
- Systematic approach to product development and testing
- Ability to write reports and official company communications
- Strong computer knowledge and skills
- WHMIS training an asset
- TDG training an asset
- Practical ISO9001 and GMP experience an asset
- ISO9001 internal auditor training an asset
Working conditions:
Various chemicals used in the process
Work in a warehouse and laboratory environment
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday from 7:30 to 16:30
Friday 7:30 to 16:00
