Co-op and WIL give students an opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom and to expand their knowledge through related work experience. The Department of Arts and Science Co-op is responsible for preparing over 3000 undergraduate students from 58 academic areas to compete for paid co-op work term opportunities. The department is also responsible for engaging industry partners who provide these work terms. A coordinated effort among the stakeholders of student, employer, and university co-op programming contributes to the development of well-qualified graduates who are prepared to assume a productive role in society.

Working under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Student Services, the Co-op Student Success & Program Coordinator is a key part of the Student Services Team in the Department and is responsible for interpreting and advising co-op students on University co-op program requirements, policies and procedures, and supporting the development and delivery of programming to co-op students to increase and maintain their engagement in the program. The incumbent works with a team of dedicated staff to support student success in the Arts & Science Co-op Program.

Your responsibilities will include:

1.





Advising students on program and/or course matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
2. Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
3. Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies, and deadlines
4. Coordinating course timetables
5. Liaising with students and faculty to coordinate program activities
6. Conceptualizing, organizing, and executing event activities
7. Maintaining information on digital platforms
8. Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements

Essential Qualifications:

1. University degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
2. Minimum of four (4)





years of undergraduate student advising preference for within an academic program, faculty/academic department or academic advising/career center, event organization and management, and related administrative experience in post-secondary environment. Experience in a co-op setting is an asset.
3. Experience training and supervising volunteers or staff
4. Experience with the University’s Student Information System ROSI (Repository of Student Information)/ACORN, Degree Navigator or a similar database system is required
5. Demonstrable expertise with learning management systems (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas) is required

Excellent computer skills as applied to databases, spreadsheets, word processing and demonstrable experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential
8. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication
9. Strong organizational, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
10. Highly developed analytical skills with a good eye for detail and accuracy
11. Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
12. Tact, judgment, and patience in dealing with students and other stakeholders and in interpreting and applying policies and procedures
13. Initiative and ability to work under pressure
14. Particularly strong ability to weigh and balance multiple perspectives,





needs, priorities, and deadlines
15. Ability to work within a multicultural and diverse environment
16. Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills

Assets (Nonessential):

1. Working knowledge of content management systems and/or website and multimedia/video updating software is an asset
