About the Opportunity

Are you an upcoming 2024 graduate from a Physiotherapy Program? We invite you to complete your Physiotherapy Residency with Nova Scotia Health. We have opportunities in facilities throughout Nova Scotia:

1. 5 positions - Western Zone: Valley Regional Hospital, Yarmouth Regional Hospital,





Bridgewater Regional Hospital, Digby Regional Hospital & Annapolis Community Health Center
2. 7 positions - Northern Zone: Aberdeen Regional Hospital, Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, All Saints Springhill Hospital, South Cumberland Community Care Center, Colchester East Hants Health Centre, North Cumberland Community Hospital & Bayview Memorial Care Center
3. 5 positions - Eastern Zone: Cape Breton Regional Hospital & Saint Martha's Regional Hospital

The Physiotherapist reports to the Program Manager. The Physiotherapist assesses,





diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function. The physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers with regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management.







About You

We invite you if you meet the following requirements:

1. Graduation in 2024 from a Master's degree in Physiotherapy or acceptable equivalent from a recognized school of Physiotherapy
2. Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
3. Current certification in CPR
4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
5. Computer competency with Microsoft Office Suite
6. Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

1. 14-18 month long assignment, full-time (over-core) positions
2. One (1) permanent, full-time (over-core) position available South Shore Regional Hospital
3. One (1) permanent, full-time (over-core)





position available at Yarmouth Regional Hospital
4. Following your Residency, you will either be placed into open unfilled positions within Rehabilitation Services, or you can apply for advertised positions throughout Nova Scotia Health

Compensation and Incentives

$33.97 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Successful candidates going into a residency placement outside of Central Zone will receive a signing bonus of $5000 with a defined Return of Service contract.
