Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements listed below.

Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.

Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.

Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.

Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Coordinator, is responsible for the leadership and development of Divisional communications, branding, marketing and advertising opportunities that support the goals of the Recreation & Culture Division and the Joint Advertising Committee (The Key).

Provides leadership,





advice and support to Divisional staff to communicate program information and initiatives.

Acts as a liaison between the Division and external groups for advertising and other revenue-generating opportunities.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Promotes awareness and reputation of Divisional services among the general public, partners and visitors.

Provides leadership and develops content for divisional communications, including digital (website, social media), print and other forms.

Prepares and creates buy-in for a Divisional branding and marketing strategy.

Supervises the development and maintains The Key website – Thunder Bay's online guide to community programs.

Provides leadership to the Joint Advertising Committee (outside agencies)





and the Division in the implementation of The Key and other digital advertising opportunities.

Coordinates the intake of advertising and acts as a liaison between the Division and external groups, securing new clients, maintaining existing clients, and promoting The Key and other Divisional advertising opportunities (eg.

Digital screens in recreational facilities)Coordinates the creation and promotion of Divisional advertising packages.

Coordinates the audit and implementation of Divisional priorities within the City's Digital Strategy, in relation to improving user/public experience and communications.

Prepares and administers purchasing processes; provides orientation, direction, and liaison with successful proponents.







Prepares and administers budgets for The Key and other digital revenue projects; monitors all expenditures and revenues; develops a pricing strategy to ensure cost recovery and/or net revenue.

Researches current and future market rates for digital advertising and recommends pricing structures based on research, best practice and other considerations.

Ensures the effective and efficient processes for all purchasing, invoicing, timelines, proofing of copies and dealing with requests and complaints.

Prepares effective communications of Divisional key performance indicators for target audiences (eg.

Council, senior staff, funders, general public)Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Diploma in business, communications,





marketing/advertising or related field together with minimum one year of experience working in business, communications, marketing/advertising or related field or

Secondary school graduation and minimum three (3) years of experience working in business, communications, marketing/advertising or related field;Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing and website maintenance.

Skills/Abilities: Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing;Must have good customer service and communication skills and be courteous and tactful in dealing with the public;Must have an intermediate understanding of graphic design, print production fundamentals and social media and trends;Ability to summarize large amounts of data/information into accessible,





reader-friendly materials;Ability to foster cooperative and collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams, community partners and staff at all levels;Self-starter with proven organizational and time management skills;Ability to organize resources, schedules and deliverables for small to large scale projects as part of a diverse team;Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation

Must work and attend meetings outside regular working hours
