Full job description

Join the dynamic team at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) as we embark on an exciting seasonal journey to bring our Hands-on Galleries and engaging activity stations to life during peak periods. We are seeking 20 highly motivated individuals to enhance the visitor experience at the ROM, particularly during ROM for the Holidays (Dec. 26, 2024 – Jan. 7, 2025), Family Day Weekend (Feb. 17-19, 2025), March Break (March 10 -14, 2025).







Please note that mandatory training will be scheduled in early December (exact date TBC). Candidates must possess a valid vulnerable sector check or be committed to obtaining one before the commencement of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Facilitating engaging children's activities at various programmed gallery stations, fostering learning and enjoyment.
- Modeling positive behaviour as an exemplary ambassador of the ROM, embodying professionalism, enthusiasm, and strong customer service.
- Exhibiting a friendly and courteous demeanour toward parents and children at all times, enhancing their museum visit.
- Ensuring the safety and preservation of specimens and objects while diligently enforcing gallery rules.
- Collaborating in gallery operations, supply replenishment, program setup, and adherence to meticulous cleaning procedures.
- Assisting in material preparation and subsequent cleanup activities, ensuring the seamless flow of interactive experiences.
- Coordinating material preparation to guarantee the smooth execution of activities.






- Contributing to cleanup activities, maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the spaces.
- Assisting with crowd control and managing visitor line-ups to ensure a positive and organized experience for all.
- Flexibility to perform additional related duties as required, contributing to the overall success of the ROM's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- A minimum of one (1) year of prior experience working with children and families in an educational or museum environment. Collaborating effectively with team members is essential to ensure a seamless visitor experience.
- Secondary education in a Museum-related field, such as Art, Archaeology, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, or History,





can provide valuable context and expertise for engaging with our exhibits and collections.
- Flexibility to work during both day and evening shifts is necessary to accommodate the diverse needs of our visitors and peak time schedules.
- Availability to attend mandatory training scheduled in early December (exact date to be determined) is crucial to ensure alignment with our standards and practices.
- Possession of a valid vulnerable sector check or a strong commitment to obtaining one before the position's start date is required to uphold the safety and security of all museum guests.
- French language and/or other language(s) spoken, first Aid certifications, and educational background in museum-related fields are considered additional assets.
