Job Description:
Reporting to the Chair, Academic Access Centre, the incumbent is responsible for the effective development,
delivery and support of programing addressing student’s personal and educational needs in the Academic Assistance for Adults with Developmental Difficulties (AAADD) program. Support Specialists work in a classroom setting and one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities to help students further develop their academic skills as well as build social skills within a college environment. The incumbent also assists students with interactions throughout the college community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Administration;
- Student recruitment and support;
- Coordinates the Advisory Committee activities;
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) year diploma or equivalent in Developmental Service Worker Program or BA in Social Work, a BEd, special education or equivalent;
- Minimum five (5) years' experience working in programs for students with developmental difficulties, including developing and implementing educational programs;
- First Aid and CPR is required;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
