JOB TITLE: Assistant Energy Management Engineering – Co-opDEPARTMENT: Public Works and EngineeringNUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1JOB STATUS & DURATION: Contract, Temporary HOURS OF WORK: 35 hour workweekLOCATION: Hybrid Model – when working onsite, you will report to the location of West Tower.HOURLY RATE: Year 1: $21.04; Year 2: $21.43; Year 3: $23.13; Year 4: $25.21JOB TYPE: Management and AdministrationPOSTING DATE: October 17, 2024CLOSING DATE: October 30, 2024AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:Reporting to the Supervisor, this co-op will be supporting the team responsible for efficiency and conservation strategies for new and existing city facilities.
The student will assist and support project management efforts by working with Facilities Maintenance Project Coordinators and Supervisors.
Work with Energy Project Co-ordinators to help shape and implement citywide energy management/conservation programs and initiatives for new and existing city facilities.
These programs may include the following actions with the support of Project Coordinators: Propose and assist with ideas that provide value for money that can reduce energy costs
Research innovative solutions to reduce carbon footprint
Contribute to cross divisional and department energy management meetings
Develop and write project business justifications, case studies and contract documents
Facilitate problem solving discussions and liaise with site staff
Undertake site work (as permitted during these pandemic times) in support of energy monitoring,funding, water rebate programs, and any other cost recovery initiatives
Maintain the City''s utility management database and provide reports from the softwareSELECTION CRITERIA:
Student must be enrolled in any University or College Co-Op.
Proof of enrollment letter will be requested prior to job offer.
Safety boots are required.
Student must currently be enrolled in an Engineering program (Electrical / Mechanical / Engineering, Environmental / Management Studies)Strong report writing, data analysis, organizational and problem solving skills
Present and communicate complex concepts and data in an easily understood manner
Highly collaborative with the ability to exchange ideas and work in a team environment
Independent worker with capability to manage projects
Valid driver''s license with a vehicle available for site visits - an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced spreadsheet skills (functions, macros,
etc.)**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton. **Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
