Your opportunity:
The Department of Student Housing and Residence Life's mission is to create safe, inclusive communities that serve as the foundation for academic excellence and personal growth. If you are looking for a role where you can put your data and analytical skills to work, the Occupancy and Admissions Coordinator might be the role for you.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Admissions, the Occupancy and Admissions Coordinator is part of the Housing Services Team. The role is primarily responsible for the residence admissions process, ensuring it operates effectively and efficiently. This includes a focus on housing applications and management of student records in accordance with University policies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing detailed information on eligibility requirements, procedures and deadlines
- Reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into residential accommodations
- Informing applicants of residential accommodations offers
- Coordinating room assignments and changes throughout the year
- Analyzing and making recommendations to maximize residence occupancy
- Liaising with colleagues to encourage best practices and consistent programming
- Exchanging information at formal department meetings
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of related experience
- Experience with database management (e.g. StarRez)
- Intermediate spreadsheet skills,
including the ability to consolidate and link multiple spreadsheets
- Superior organizational skills, with the ability to work with minimal error under pressure
- Excellent customer service skills
Assets (Nonessential):
- Records management and contract administration knowledge
- Experience advising students on residence admissions and operations
- Ability to identify trends in occupancy management
- Knowledge of the university’s procedures related to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA)
- Experience with the Ontario Residential Tenancies Act

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 09 -- $66,715 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $85,319. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
