The Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences comprises Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. All three disciplines play fundamental roles in science, engineering, and many other areas of academic inquiry and technological innovation. The department offers programs that specialize on a wide range of topics, such as Software Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Mining, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, and Applied Statistics.
Your opportunity:
We are in search of a dynamic and innovative Marketing and Engagement Specialist. This role is not just about supporting our department's marketing and engagement goals but about shaping them. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to design and develop strategies that will optimize our department's presence, build a vibrant community, and enhance the student experience.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations and Finance, you will design and develop various marketing, events,
and social media strategies to support the goals and objectives of the department. You will work closely with other units at the university to create communication strategies that effectively promote the department and engage stakeholders. Key responsibilities include advising on and developing content for both digital and print; promoting a broad range of student services, including academic, career and co-curricular activities; organizing and executing events; collecting and analyzing data and trends; developing and maintaining departmental guidelines and procedures, working with student groups/associations, student leaders and ambassadors, etc.
This multifaceted role requires a strategic and creative student-centric individual who can positively impact student engagement and success within the department.

Your responsibilities will include:
Implementing communication plans across a broad range of marketing/communication channels that support outreach goals and objectives
Maintaining information on digital platforms and/or printed materials
Promoting experiential learning opportunities,
departmental events and programs to students to enhance student engagement
Conceptualizing, organizing and executing a wide range of event activities
Delivering presentations and facilitating educational workshops and seminars
Advising on marketing best practices, brand-building opportunities and analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns and/or programs
Verifying that all marketing/communication collateral adheres to brand identity and University style guides
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or marketing or an acceptable combination of experience
Minimum 4 years of directly related experience in coordinating marketing and communication strategies, ideally in a post-secondary setting
Experience writing, designing, editing,
proofreading and publishing content for online and in-person platforms
Ability to understand complex information and concepts and successfully translate them into clear, concise and compelling messages
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, Instagram/LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter/Youtube/Spotify, graphic design and image editing software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can also work independently to meet tight deadlines with accountability and minimal supervision
