Indigenous Outreach Coordinator (Part Time)
YMCA Calgary
Start Date:Immediately
Salary: $16.40/hr - $19.66/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
A passion for working with Indigenous children and youth







Minimum 2 years' experience in working with Indigenous peoples and communities

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history and worldview

Cultural knowledge and experience working with Elders and Cultural Advisors

Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning

Reliability and an understanding of the importance of time management

Willing to work independently and within a team environment

Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task

Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society,





St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

Three professional references

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and responsibilities include:

Be available for programs at either lunchtime or after school in either North Central or South West Calgary

Assist in coordinating and implementing the delivery of programs to meet the needs of Indigenous school-aged children and youth ensuring educational, cultural and social goals are met

Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times

Maintain positive relationships with school staff

Administrative duties

Promote cross-cultural understanding







Other department or association duties as required
