Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project. The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

This Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Administrator position is based at the Office located in Toronto and reports to the Alstom EHS Project Manager. The EHS administrative position will play an integral role assisting the local management with day-to-day administration and continuity of the Health & Safety Management System and Environmental Management System. This role requires providing leadership and process advice to operations management at the field level for EHS program implementation, along with troubleshooting and educating staff on system functionality.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Administrative Duties
1. Ensure an updated digital and non-digital safety information board
2.





Prepare attendance lists and meeting minutes for various meetings
3. Prepare Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings packages and minutes
4. Support EHS training bookings, scheduling, facility arrangements
5. Assist in the planning and development of events (safety stand down meetings, EHS campaigns) and their respective contractual requirements.
6. Review and document control of submitted inspections, incidents, and meetings
7. Assist in preparing various monthly KPIs, monthly reports, statistics
8. Maintain employee training proof of training, training expiry, and training matrix
9. Supporting desk and field audits
10. Supporting the administration of health and safety claims
11. Managing the EHS general inbox and inquiries
12.





Follow up and electronic archiving of all EHS documents
13. Support the EHS team in all administrative tasks where necessary

- Office Health and Safety

1. Conducting office EHS inspections (ex. First aid kits, fire extinguishers, AED, etc)
2. Develop and maintain office risk assessments
3. Participate in improving office ergonomics
4. Participation in the Project JHSC, mental health committee and other Alstom initiatives
5. Support the implementation of EHS management systems
6. Develop and transmit EHS short communications, newsletters etc.
7. Support in building/delivering training programs
8. Occasional site visits/safety inspections for professional development/program understanding
9. Supporting office staff in EHS matters

- PPE & Safety Supply Inventory Management

1.





Support all teams in PPE and Safety Supply Inventory procurement: sourcing; placing orders; receiving, storing, monitoring inventory; supporting billing; and providing PPE to workers
2. Monitor PPE and Safety Supply Inventory for annual recertification

Competencies

1. Completion of formal university or college education
2. Experience of 1-3 years in Environmental, Health and Safety
3. Experience in the construction industry, considered an asset
4. Excellence in Microsoft Office Suites and agility to learn and use other software systems
5. Knowledge of Canadian EHS legislation
6. Ability to travel to construction sites to support EHS & site teams occasionally
7. Developed soft skills: takes initiative and is a self-starter, teamwork,





people skills, oral and written communications, service-minded
8. Responsible and honest
9. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
10. You have a strong interest in EHS excellence
11. You have rigor, excellent knowledge of OHSA and Regulations, and how to apply them
12. Good written English and show initiative
13. Familiar with SharePoint and Aconex an asset or willingness to learn
