Emergency – Adult

The Emergency Department focuses on various sub-specialties within emergency care complete with an electronic Patient Tracking System. The core services offered at this site are Clinical Neurosciences, full range Cardiology Services, Organ Transplantation, Critical Care, Medicine, and General Surgery. Presently, there are approximately 50,000 visits annually.

Regular Full Time & Part-Time

Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

Qualifications

- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course:





BLS-HCP(C)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent emergency nursing experience
- Recent Cardiac Monitoring experience
- Demonstrated competency in ECG Interpretation
- Preference to candidates with CTAS certification, ENC (C), ACLS, TNCC, organizational supported aggressive behavior management training, and PALS certification
- Well developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cerner or an electronic health record preferred
- Demonstrated warmth, interest and empathy in interactions with patients and families
- Demonstrated effective communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to function productively in a very demanding environment with a high patient turnover
- Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback in an open and constructive manner
- Demonstrated skills in patient teaching
- Evidence of commitment to self-directed learning as demonstrated by the courses taken pertaining to emergency nursing






- Ability to work independently and as a member of the team
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

- Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;






- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
