Our Sports Development, Wellness and Culture Department is looking for a dedicated Program Instructor V to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programming and Events Supervisor, the Program Instructor V is a member of the Sports Development, Wellness and Culture Department.
In this position, you have the opportunity to be creative and innovative, while working to host new programs for the community. You will work to facilitate programs, overcome challenges and provide new experiences to the community in program development.
Program Instructor V: Works independently in the preparation and delivery of a program or course with a minimum of one year previous related work experience.
Your main responsibilities will be centered around the facilitation, creation of content, and implementation of programs. These programs include, but are not limited to first aid, stay safe, educational sessions, special interest, skating and day camps. In addition to the development of each program, you will also be responsible for monitoring the program's success and customer satisfaction. This position is hands on in delivering all programs at Eastlink Centre, along with other recreation facilities within the City of Grande Prairie.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 2 years' of applicable experience in creating, implementing, and coordinating programs, as well as delivering those programs to large groups of children, youth and adults.
- Friendly, outgoing and have a team centered attitude with strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven time management, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to skate, swim and run are an asset
- Advanced understanding of office functions, Microsoft Office Suite, and other supporting software such as Adobe
- Experience with Recreation Management Systems is an asset
- Class 5 driver's license is required, as travel between sites will be required
- First Aid Certification - CPR Level C is required
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting Salary $27.88 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
