IT Support Specialist
This is a Full-time, Salaried position. Position available.
About The IT Support Specialist:
As an IT Support Specialist you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure and ensuring the smooth running of all IT-related operations. This role includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing network systems, supporting end users, information security and assisting with IT projects to improve operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset,
and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
This position will report to the VP of People and Administrative Services.
What you will be doing in the role:
Infrastructure Support
- Monitor and maintain IT systems, including servers, networks, hardware, and software.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to employees for IT-related issues (hardware, software, network, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT problems in a timely manner, escalating issues when necessary.
Network Management
- Manage network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor network performance and proactively address any issues.
System Administration
- Perform routine system administration tasks such as updates, patch management, and system health checks.
- Maintain and manage user accounts, permissions, and access to systems.
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure and SaaS applications,
ensuring uptime and security.
Equipment Management
- Procure equipment such as laptops and monitors using MAD PO as needed. Manage inventory of equipment, review usability of machines, and warranties with vendors.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of all IT assets, such as repair work, invoices, and contact information.
End-User Support
- Provide day-to-day support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral devices (e.g., printers).
- Install and configure software and hardware as required.
- Train staff on the proper use of IT equipment and software tools.
IT Projects
- Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects, such as system upgrades, new software deployments, and network improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and support their IT needs.
Documentation and Reporting
- Create and maintain documentation for IT systems, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Report on IT performance metrics, uptime, and issues to management.
Other
- Other duties as assigned.
- Able to lift up to 15lbs; may work in hot areas 5%, noise 0%.
- Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area.
What you will bring to the role:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or network management.
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft 365, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN) and cybersecurity best practices.
- Knowledge of network security tools (firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection).
- Familiar with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
This position works out of our Mississauga, Ontario location. Hours are typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
