As the Seniors Services Home Maintenance Team Lead, you will report to the Leader, Youth & Seniors Services in the Recreation & Social Programs (R&SP;) business unit. You will be responsible for the operational oversight and delivery of the Seniors Services Home Maintenance program, a subsidy program that offers free snow shoveling, grass-cutting and housekeeping services to eligible seniors aged 65+ who are living with low-income. You will provide leadership and supervision to staff who implement the Seniors Services Home Maintenance program. In this position,
you will also provide strategic direction and be responsible for implementing best practices, program development and ensuring outcomes and deliverables are met. The Team Lead, Seniors Services Home Maintenance develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external program collaborators and oversees contracts with external organizations. Primary duties include:
- Manage all staffing functions within a dynamic, unionized environment including portfolio assignment, managing all aspects of the recruitment process, and performance management including coaching, training, development, evaluation and discipline.
- Provide strategic leadership for projects to advance Seniors Services Home Maintenance program objectives.
- Act as a liaison to build and strengthen relationships with external organizations and contractors.
- Maintain contracts and reports.
- Oversee incoming and outgoing financial transfers and reconciliation.
- Review client files to ensure quality case management.
- Work with other orders of government to deliver subsidized services for Calgarians living with low-income.
- Represent the Seniors Services Home Maintenance program on various committees in a leadership capacity to advance priority projects, increase collaboration and provide subject matter expertise to work groups.
Qualifications
- A degree in Human Services or related field with at least 5 years experience working with populations experiencing vulnerability and at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- A strong understanding of the senior's services sector is required.
- Strong financial management skills are required.
- Experience working with other orders of government and other municipalities is an asset.
- Success in this position requires:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate others to action to advance the team¿s objectives.
- Strong organizational skills, political acumen and the ability to influence others and collaborate across the organization to bring about change.
- Critical thinking and ability to coach direct reports in developing approaches to identify and resolve issues, analyze material and respond to emerging challenges.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
