we work with clients who are experiencing the combined effects of poverty, trauma and systemic marginalization. The Director of Facilities oversees and is responsible for the building infrastructure and supports the daily efficient operations of the facility,





supported by the Facilities team. The Director of Facilities has ultimate accountability for ensuring the building meets all regulatory and safety requirements. This role is responsible for the planning and project management for capital projects, including the implementation of the Building Lifecycle report recommendations. This role will work closely with the other Directors at CUPS to ensure the effective implementation of the CUPS Strategic Plan. The Director of Facilities is responsible, in partnership with SLT, for developing both capital and operational budgets, monitoring actual results to budget, and ensuring that the budget meets the needs of the organization.





This role requires a detailed understanding of the building operations as a certified building operator. The Director of Facilities typically work during the organizational hours of operation, though they may be required to work additional hours in the event of an emergency. This may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel may also be required if support is required at a partner site in which CUPS staff are stationed.,.

Leadership:

- Provide strategic direction & leadership for direct reports, developing and maintaining a high performing department capable of managing the dynamic needs of operating a facility
- Create goals, objectives, initiatives, and action plans aligned with the building lifecycle requirements, and ensure effective project management
- Foster a culture that embodies CUPS' purpose, ambition, and values






- Support the creations of an approachable, caring and trauma informed environment for staff and clients by displaying a warm and approachable demeanor
- As subject matter expert on building needs, the Director of Facilities will provide recommendations to Senior Leadership for all building matters to ensure operations align with program needs, current CUPS policy and licensing requirements
- Develop and maintain a compassionate, professional and effective team that meets the dynamic needs of the organization
- Be willing to present at SLT and Board meetings as it relates to facilities and/or capital projects
- Oversee and manage vendor relations in the best interest of CUPS

Organizational Duties and Performance:







- Work collaboratively with SLT to develop and oversee the facilities and capital budget on an annual basis
- Ensure best practices are implemented at CUPS as it relates to facilities
- As the Building Operator, ensure all systems are operating safely and efficiently
- Provide direct supervision and support to the Facilities Manager to facilitate the effective day-to-day operations of the building
- Provide mentorship and coaching to the facilities team
- When on-call, respond to after hour calls, Security Alarm calls and or emergencies in partnership with the facilities team
- Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee at CUPS
- Work in partnership with SLT to support uninterrupted building operations
- Act as the Project Manager for all facility projects,





whether work is completed internally or by external partners
- Actively participate with the Leadership Collaborative in implementing the Strategic Plan, by providing support to any initiatives requiring facilities
- Implement energy-saving measures and promote environmentally sustainable operations
- Work with relevant parties on development of policies and emergency response plan

Stakeholder Relations:

- Develop and maintain collaborative and accountable working relations with internal CUPS colleagues
- Help create a caring, reliable, and trauma-informed care to all clients accessing CUPS by ensuring a safe and clean atmosphere for client service operations
- Become an ambassador to visitors to CUPS,





by showcasing the building and being able to talk about the services offered from a high level. Facilitate tours, to promote both donor and funder retention and acquisition, community engagement, and vendor support.

Qualifications and background required:

- Building Operation Certification, including fifth class Power Engineering certificate
- Advanced knowledge of commercial building systems operations and maintenance, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, and experience with BMS and Security systems
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in overseeing facilities at a Commercial building/s
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field an asset
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Strong Computer Skills,





including MSOffice, and ability to learn new technologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid problem-solving skills

Physical Demands & Work Environment

To perform necessary functions and tasks of the job you are required to:

- Stand up to 3 hours a day, Walk up to 3 hours a day, crouch and bend 1.5hours, sit less than 1 hour.
- Use hands to grip, feel, handle
- Reach above shoulders approximately 33% of the time, push/pull and grasp with hands and arms 33-50%
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently lifting 5-10 pounds
- Performing repetitive tasks
- Ability to work for periods of 1 hour in heat and cold for outdoor maintenance
