About The Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Program Manager of Rehabilitation & Supportive Care Services. The Occupational Therapist (OT) works in collaboration with the client,





caregivers and family to facilitate, restore and/or maintain the patient/clients optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation and follow-up while working within the hospital. The OT, in collaboration with the client, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals independently manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgement and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. The OT provides education and support to clients, families and caregivers. The OT functions as both a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.





The OT contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and for supervision of OT Assistants. The OT is responsible for adhering to the Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of our licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
- Previous experience working with burns, plastics and orthopedic patient population considered an asset
- Previous experience in custom splinting and fabrication considered an asset
- Ability to help develop, establish and integrate the role of OT in an inter-professional practice setting
- BCLS






- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers and staff
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising, and liaising with external partners
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

- Long assignment, Part-time position; 60 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately a 14-month assignment

Compensation And Benefits

$33.97 - $42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
