JOB DESCRIPTION
Ontario Shores is currently seeking a full-time Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Forensic Psychiatric Rehabilitation in-patient service area. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues. Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessments; individual, group and family/couple therapy; liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of an interdisciplinary team and discharge coordination and planning.
Requirements:
• An MSW is required.
• The successful candidate must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
• Current CPR is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery.
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
• An in-depth knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of longer-stay psychiatric inpatients.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work.
• Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
• Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers
• Meditech experience preferred
• Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy and crisis intervention skills.
• Knowledge of concurrent disorders an asset.
• Experience/knowledge of the Forensic system an asset.
• The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
• The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
• Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
