Our client is a licensed producer (LP) focused on the manufacturing and processing of medical and recreational cannabis products.
They are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Associate to join their team onsite at their facility in the Greater Toronto Area. This role will support the daily operations of the facility, and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and the highest quality standards.
This position will report to the QAP, and be responsible for various QA tasks and responsibilities, including adherence to GMP, Health Canada, and NHP standards.
MUST be able to be onsite full-time in the East Scarborough area during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.)
MUST have previous professional experience working in a cGMP environment, ideally in Cannabis manufacturing/processing, Pharmaceuticals, NHPs and/or the Cosmetics industry.
SPECIALIZED JOB DUTIES
- Assist in the implementation of GMP practices to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Oversee Quality Assurance operations, ensuring compliance with DEL, NHP and GMP standards.
- Manage day-to-day QA activities to uphold product quality and regulatory adherence, including preparation for and participation in internal and external audits.
- Prepare and review batch production records and ensure accuracy in documentation.
- Complete experience process validation for new processes and products including IQ, OQ, PQ & PPQ.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES
- Prepare and review batch production records and ensure accuracy in documentation.
- Draft and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Issue Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Manufacturing (CoM), and Conformance (CoC), ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Implement HACCP and Preventive Control Plans.
- Participate in review of global QMS metrics, reporting and trend analysis and help to establish corrective action plans.
- Ensure vendors are qualified and incoming materials meet quality specifications.
- Assist in the receipt and inspection of incoming materials, conducting sampling and preparing detailed reports.
- Mentor and support junior Quality Assurance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Contribute ideas for process optimization, efficiency gains, and quality improvement projects.
- Engage in corrective and preventive action (CAPA)
programs to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, etc.); a Master’s or PhD degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance in a DEL-regulated environment, NHP, cosmetics, or a cGMP-regulated industry (required).
- Hands-on experience on process validation for new processes and products including IQ, OQ, PQ & PPQ (required).
- Knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Food and Drugs Act and Regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and quick application of new information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets) software suites.
- Positive attitude with a proactive, self-disciplined approach.
- Security background screening: All candidates must have a clean criminal record. Criminal background checks will be conducted and must be provided prior to the candidate's start date.
