Your Opportunity:
Home Care Health Care Aides provide service to clients in the lodges & their homes in Grande Prairie & surrounding area. This position is currently assigned to the lodge but could be subject to change as required. You must be a certified Health Care Aide and be registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Experience in seniors’ health is an asset. Candidate must be willing to change assignment as needed to service facility and community clients.
You must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving in all-weather/road conditions. You must have a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes. You must be willing to work alone and/or with limited supervision. You must be willing to work days/ evenings/nights/weekends/stats and both short and long shifts. We are looking for a candidate who has a positive approach both with clients and peers. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs,
assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current CPR, reliable vehicle for work purposes and acceptable drivers abstract. At least 1 years’ experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E.S course. Palliative Care course/experience. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention course. It’s Your Move course. Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Foot care course/experience.
