The Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Librarian to join the Luke Lindoe Library team.

The Alberta University of the Arts is one of only four major art, craft and design focused Universities in Canada. Our internationally recognized programs and state-of-the-art facilities offer our 1,100 students a hands-on, studio-based education that leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Design, and an MFA in Craft Media.





AUArts has deep roots in Calgary’s creative community and our alumni have had an impact on creativity around the world. Alberta University of the Arts will be celebrating its centennial in 2026.

This is a full-time, limited term appointment until June 30, 2025. Hours of work are 35 hours per week.

About the Luke Lindoe Library at AUArts

The Library is a physical and virtual place of inspiration, inquiry and support. We collect, maintain, and provide access to art and design resources and offer learning services to promote critical thinking and creativity.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Learning Innovation Resources, the Librarian contributes to student learning, faculty engagement, and the development of innovative library services. The Librarian supports the teaching, learning, and research mission of Alberta University of the Arts as part of the Innovation portfolio with a focus on digital learning,





emerging learning tools and innovative research technologies.

Responsibilities:
Librarian Responsibilities

- Design and deliver information sessions and digital literacy instruction using both traditional and digital methods.
- Lead efforts in collection development and resource management to ensure a diverse and relevant collection.
- Provide guidance on scholarly resources, open access, and data management strategies.
- Promote and support understanding of Open Educational Resources (OER) and OER publishing.
- Utilize Alma Analytics to assess library usage, track resource performance, and inform data-driven decision-making for library services.
- Proactively identify opportunities for service improvements, aligning with AUArts’ mission to foster innovation and creative development.






- Assist with the use of advanced research technologies and provide specialized research support for faculty and graduate students.
- Utilize educational technology, including video editing and Learning Management Systems (LMS), to support faculty and student needs.
- Actively engage with the AUArts community, offering outreach initiatives to enhance awareness of library services and resources.
- Act as a resource with faculty and students to support their research.
- Contribute to university-wide initiatives focusing on scholarly resources, research impact, and knowledge dissemination.

Professional and Administrative Responsibilities

- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in academic librarianship, AI literacy, copyright, Creative Commons,





and educational technologies.
- Participate in resource sharing, committee work, and collaborative library projects to strengthen the library’s role in the academic community.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the library’s services by sharing best practices and innovations in library science.

Qualifications:
The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion, individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered.

- Master’s degree in librarianship (ALA accredited or equivalent)
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience providing research support for faculty, graduate, and master's students






- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Knowledge of post-secondary legislation, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in AI literacy, copyright, and Creative Commons is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alma Analytics for data analysis and reporting is an asset
- Proficient in open education resources (OER) and OER publishing is an asset

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the AUArts Faculty Agreement under Salary Schedule A-1.
