EHS Director

Director of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

We are seeking a Director of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) for a significant nuclear power project. This role will functionally report to the Director EHS - Nuclear Sector, with a project reporting line to the Project Director.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and champion the project's strategic direction for environment, health and safety, including policies, procedures, standards and metrics
- Report progress on goals and initiatives to the project leadership team
- Track key EH&S; metrics and proactively present recommendations and accident/incident information to management
- Liaise with partners, industry experts, and vendors






- Lead the development of EH&S; plans to ensure consistent standards across project environments
- Oversee EH&S; training initiatives
- Handle executive level escalation of critical incidents
- Lead a team of EH&S; professionals engaged in project execution
- Ensure emergency/crisis procedures are established and followed
- Participate in crisis management planning
- Identify environmental risks and provide mitigation recommendations
- Liaise with governmental agencies, community stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
- Manage EH&S; budgeting
- Recruit, hire, and develop EHS team members

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated successful experience leading a progressive EH&S; organisation in a project-based environment
- Experience in nuclear environment preferred
- Relevant bachelor's degree and CRSP designation
- Understanding of implementation complexities within a large Joint Venture and contractor/union network
- Excellent communication skills and experience with public speaking and government relations






- Ability to work effectively with other departments to identify and create solutions
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights if required
- In-depth experience and knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies, and practices
- Experience with labour relations and managing critical union stakeholders
- Knowledge of INPO (Institute of Nuclear Power Operation) practices and principles

Desirable Experience

- Working for a Nuclear Generating Station in an Operations capacity
- Strong client relationships in the nuclear industry
- Working in a live nuclear environment

The successful candidate will be expected to travel between different office and field locations as required.
