Communications and Recruitment Officer

Primary Purpose: The College of Medicine is going through a significant period of growth. This includes the School of Rehabilitation Science expanding their Master of Physical Therapy Program and introducing two new programs, a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and a Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP).







The primary purpose of this position is to support these expansions by contributing to the development and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy and materials, both internal and external. The position will also play a crucial role in supporting a variety of marketing and communications activities within the College of Medicine.

Nature of Work: The Communications and Recruitment Officer contributes to the development and implementation of innovative, effective and reliable internal and external communications strategies in support of the School of Rehabilitation Science and the College of Medicine. The officer will work closely with the OT and SLP Program Development Working Group, and the College of Medicine Communications Manager.

This work requires creativity, close attention to detail and quality, and collaboration with a dynamic team focused on the development of recruitment, marketing and communications plans and materials. The ability to develop and manage projects in alignment with institutional goals and objectives is essential. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced.





The position may require some travel within the province and occasional work in the evenings and on weekends.

This position reports to the College of Medicine Communications Manager. This position has no direct reports.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

- Assist in the creation, implementation and assessment of communications and marketing strategies.
- Lead specific communications projects such as, but not limited to: writing, editing, event promotion, development of publications and print materials, development of video, website and online communications, social media, etc.
- Support internal communication efforts within the School of Rehabilitation Science and College of Medicine (e.g., newsletters, screens/posters).






- Support external stakeholder engagement and communications (e.g., newsletters, presentations, key messages).
- Support the OT and SLP Program Development Working Group and SRS Recruitment Committee in creating and implementing a recruitment strategy for the MOT and MSLP targeted audiences.
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications and recruitment plans and strategies.
- Maintain awareness of evolving best practices and provide suggestions for how to incorporate those practices into their work.
- Undertakes other activities, as may be delegated from time to time, in support of strategic goals and priorities.

Education: An undergraduate degree is required. Coursework or a major in marketing, communications or English would be considered an asset.





An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience: Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands would be an asset. Experience with marketing and communication strategy development, graphic design software of any kind (InDesign, Canva, etc.), and website design is preferred.

Skills:

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to communicate in an effective way to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and/or contexts while staying a positive and productive member of the team
- Ability to structure, organize and build initiatives, and effectively plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.






- Ability to build and maintain collaborative and productive relationships, exercising professionalism, diplomacy, judgment, and tact, and to act confidentially and with cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work independently; self-motivated, takes initiative and reliable.
- Models a high standard of performance and outcomes, and challenges self and others to achieve desired results.
- Ability to problem-solve, think and act strategically and creatively.
- High level of proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Canva) and social media and web platforms.
- Photography skills would be an asset.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $52,050.00 - 81,328.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
