Overview
The Fredericton Homeless Shelters, Inc is a non-profit charitable organization that provides shelter to individuals who are experiencing homelessness.
We create safe and stable housing that promotes self-determination and restores dignity to residents/ With our Continuum Care 23-hour model, and holistic transitional planning support, we are a housing focused shelter.
We are currently seeking a Full Time Manager for the Out of the Cold Shelter (OOTC) to join our team. Approximate opening/closing is December 2024-April 2025.
The Shelter Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the Out Of The Cold Shelter, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all residents. This position involves managing staff, coordinating services, and maintaining effective communication with community partners. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others and a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support.
Must supply a recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and agree to a Social Development Check.

Responsibilities
- Supervise shelter staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee intake processes for new residents,
ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- Maintain accurate records of resident information, incidents, and services provided.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the shelter environment.
- Address resident concerns promptly and effectively to foster a positive living atmosphere.
- Schedule staff, ensuring staffing levels at all times
- Create a supportive environment
- Work collaboratively with all staff and community partners
Skills
- Strong supervisory skills with experience in managing teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff, residents, and community partners.
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Knowledge of homelessness, mental health issues, addictions, trauma, domestic violence
- Empathy and compassion towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis situations.
- Problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise within the shelter setting.

Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills
- Previous supervising experience

- First Aid/CPR certification an asset
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 44 per week
