About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing quantitative and qualitative risk analysis in the area of real estate, private equity and infrastructure investments. The individual will participate and assist in the development, implementation,





and maintenance of risk measurement methodologies and will be involved with in-depth risk analysis of illiquid investments including developing risk proxies and estimating the sensitivity of fair value to changes in financial markets. The successful candidate will be joining a unique team that has built solid relationships across the organization, including the Investment Teams, Portfolio construction Group, and Finance Team.

What You’ll Do

- Work closely with the Investment Division and Risk Team to identify, define, develop and produce risk reports specific to the Private Equity, Infrastructure, and Real Estate Group portfolios.

- Identify and develop forward looking methodologies consistent with best practices to capture the risks in real estate, private equity and infrastructure investments.







- Interact with Illiquid Asset investment groups to cash flow model and evaluate large, completed transactions and research risk factors driving portfolio values for Illiquid assets.

- Be involved in Risk Opinion Memo composition for certain Private Market transactions.

- Help develop proxy methodologies for smaller investments in private equity, infrastructure, and real estate that use risk factor sensitivities for each asset class.

- Use qualitative and quantitative methods such as regression analysis to derive risk factor exposures for illiquid investments. Collaborate with the Research team to identify and use risk characteristics of illiquid assets.

- Ensure that sufficient backup and documentation are in place to support proxy decisions, current proxies, and reporting processes.







- Recommend and estimate portfolio metrics and risk factor sensitivities for the illiquid asset portfolio.

- Ensure that position information for private markets assets in the PACE, YARDI, and eFront systems is adequately captured for risk system modeling and provide suggestions for improvement in data quality as needed

- Recommend and implement process improvements in risk reporting and data processes for illiquid assets.

- The Senior Investment Risk Analyst will be responsible for performing and expanding advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis to critically evaluate investment risks in the Total Fund.

- At times, this candidate may lead in the identification of risks in the Total Fund and public markets activities,





including funding and market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk and derivative counterparty risk.

- Active involvement in key research and development projects regarding the risk impact of investment products and strategies, and investment risk metrics with respect to Total Fund and public market activities.

What You Bring

- 6+ years of experience with financial modeling, due diligence and/or valuations.

- Undergraduate or Graduate, degree in Finance or other discipline.

- Experience with a large number of investments is considered an asset.

- Relevant risk management and/or investment experience in the illiquid asset space, either with an asset manager, pension plan, bank, accounting firm, or investment consultant firm would be an asset.







- Ability to effectively communicate complex analysis in an easy-to-understand manner.

- Aptitude to work co-operatively and efficiently with other teams within the organization including investment deal teams.

- Attainment or working towards a professional designation such as CBV, AACI, MAI, PRM, FRM, and/or CFA is an asset.

- Ability to analyze financial market data using Excel, Access, Visual Basic, and relevant analytical software, such as Bloomberg.

- Prior experience with RiskMetrics is an asset.

- Demonstrated business acumen to understand driving factors of businesses in our Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate portfolio.







- Effective writing and presentation skills to compose Memorandums and Presentations for the Risk Team and other stakeholders in the organization.
