Calgary French & International School (CFIS) is a full French language immersion co-educational independent school, serving over 800 students from junior preschool through to Grade 12. For over 50 years, families have chosen CFIS because of our immersive French language learning environment that inspires children’s unique curiosity and exploration of the world around them.

The Parent and Alumni Relations Coordinator is a key member of the Development team dedicated to successfully facilitating initiatives and activities that engage the CFIS alumni, student, and parent communities. This position reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Development, Communications, and Pedagogical Leadership teams in developing comprehensive programming that supports community engagement, fundraising, and donor stewardship strategies.

The Parent and Alumni Relations Coordinator is instrumental in the delivery of programs and services designed to facilitate lifelong relationships with CFIS parents, students, and alumni to build affinity that supports the immediate and long-term fundraising goals of the school.







This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building on an already healthy parent engagement plan while creating a new platform for alumni engagement. The role will provide many opportunities for learning in all areas of Development, Community Engagement, Marketing & Communications, and Enrollment Management in a creative, collaborative team atmosphere that equally values relationships and results.

This is a full-time position which may include some evenings and weekends during events and community initiatives. Some schedule flexibility is required.

Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management

- Work with internal stakeholders to determine annual volunteer requirements.
- Communicate and promote volunteer opportunities to the CFIS parent community.
- Identify school areas and initiatives that may be well-served by volunteer support.






- Actively seek out parents by identifying opportunities for them to engage in meaningful volunteer experiences that will expand the pool of parent volunteers.
- Recruit parent committee members to run the following initiatives: Used Uniform Sale, Yearbook, Photo Day, and Staff Appreciation.
- Ensure CFIS staff and faculty volunteer leads are provided with complete volunteer lists in a timely fashion.
- Conceptualize and execute a volunteer recognition plan that acknowledges, recognizes, and demonstrates the impact of volunteers.
- Attend monthly meetings with administration and “Les Amis” (lead parent volunteer corps) and work collaboratively with parent event leads.

Community Engagement

- Plan and execute the following School events:

○ Volunteer Kick off






○ Volunteer Appreciation
○ Grand friends social

- In partnership with parent volunteers, plan and execute the following events:

○ Seasonal family social events
○ Grade 5 Family Celebration
○ Grade 8 Family Celebration
○ Grade 12 Banquet

Alumni Relations

- Develop long and short-range goals for the CFIS alumni engagement strategy.
- Plan and execute all alumni engagement events.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team to leverage social media platforms to create online communities and content for CFIS alumni.
- Create a bi-annual alumni newsletter to disseminate alumni and school news.
- Promote and foster alumni relations through personal outreach to engage alumni in student/alumni programming and event attendance.






- Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to plan and execute an alumni communications strategy.

Student Engagement

- Create opportunities to engage the Graduation Class as they transition to alumni.

Fundraising and Data Management

- Through working with parent and alumni volunteers, identify possible community members to add to the major gifts prospect list.
- In partnership with the Director of Advancement, implement data management protocols in Raiser’s Edge to ensure data integrity.

Stewardship

- Track all donor stewardship processes as laid out in the Stewardship Plan (including but not limited to activating phone calls, thank you cards, and tracking naming and recognition agreements.)

Essential Qualifications :







- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree and two years of experience in community engagement, event management, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of database systems, structures, and best practices.
- Commitment to data privacy and confidentiality.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, creativity, and imagination.
- Exceptional interpersonal/social interaction skills.

Personal Qualities and Attributes :

- An astute listener and strategist; comfortable receiving input from many sources, and able to analyze and formulate disparate information into a sound, well-organized plan.







- Intrepid yet tactful; determined yet respectful of others’ concerns; someone with the flexibility and creativity needed to find alternative ways to reach objectives when barriers arise.

- A hard worker with a high energy level and a willingness to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of activities.

Compensation

- Three weeks paid vacation time off in addition to two-weeks off at winter break and one-week off at March break when the school is closed.

Pay range: $48,000 to $55,000 annual salary based on education and experience.
