Network Security Consultant – Job Description
- We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Security Consultant to join our Security & Enterprise Architecture department
- As a Contractor, IT Technical Consultant (Firewall and Network Security Specialist), you will play a crucial role in designing, configuring, and maintaining our Network Security Infrastructure
- You will collaborate closely with the IT Security Architecture and Ops teams to identify effective solutions that align with our operational goals and maximize efficiencies
- Reporting to the Manager of IT Security Architecture and Ops,
the successful candidate will administer and manage next-generation firewalls, assist in implementing firewall requests, and contribute to the maturity improvement of firewall governance and orchestration solutions
- Your responsibilities will include auditing firewall policies, participating in troubleshooting and incident response, and identifying emerging threat tactics
- You will also act as support for Network Security platforms, manage future security solutions acquisitions, and ensure compliance with security policies and standards
Network Security Consultant – Mandatory Skills
- Post-secondary technical degree or diploma with relevant experience
- 5 years of experience in Cyber Security
- Extensive knowledge of Next Gen Firewalls, Firewall Governance and Orchestration, DNS Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and Security Incident and Event Management Systems (SIEM)
- Demonstrated experience in IT security technologies and processes
- Strong influencing, negotiating, and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Network Security Consultant – Preferred Skills
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, GCIH, OCSP, CCIE-Security)
- Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework and/or Ontario Cybersecurity Framework
- Utility experience
- Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills
- Strategic business focus and ability to partner with business units
