Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Director of Finance to ensure our continued financial sustainability and compliance. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization. This includes financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.

You will play a critical role in partnering with the management team as a strategic thought-partner in decision making, providing finance leadership and support for the delivery of both short-term results as well as long-term sustainability for the organization.







You possess strong analytical skills and are detail oriented. Ideally you have funding and finance management experience with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Service (MCCSS), Ontario Health (OH), and Home and Community Care Support Services (HCCSS).

This is a permanent full-time in-office position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the financial planning and analysis efforts for the organization, including developing and managing budgets in coordination with department heads.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, including GAAP, MCCSS, OH, HCCSS,





and CRA guidelines for nonprofit organizations.
- Oversee the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Manage cash flow planning and ensure the availability of funds as needed.
- Review and administer financial controls and procedures to ensure financial integrity and efficiency.
- In partnership with HR ensure payroll, benefits, and compensation administration complies with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Develop and implement financial policies and strategies to support the sustainability of the organization.
- Supervise and mentor finance team members, ensuring the team is aligned with organizational goals and values.
- Assist in grant management,





including tracking grant expenditures and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Advise the Executive Director and Board of Directors on financial strategy and operational performance.
- Serve as a key liaison to the Finance Committee and other relevant committees at the Board level and within the organization.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor or master’s degree in accounting/finance and CPA designation.
- Minimum 8 years in accounting (with at least 3 years in nonprofit financial management), strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, and experience with tax regulations and tax law relevant to nonprofit organizations, including GAAP and fund accounting.
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, grant management, and reporting for a charitable organization.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)





and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and relationship building skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including Board members, staff, and external partners.
- As a Leader, you are hands-on and an active listener. You are empathetic. You can share clear messages and make complex ideas easy to understand and are flexible to the needs of others.
- A demonstrated successful track record in setting priorities, having keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills supporting and enabling sound decision making will be an asset.

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($98,000 – $107,000).
