CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Coordinator, Procurement and Logistics will lead efforts to secure and maintain partnerships with suppliers and facilitate the procurement of infrastructure (tools, materials, equipment)
for SCC events, including the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC). A key goal is to cover over $3 million worth of event infrastructure through these partnerships, reducing direct purchases. The successful candidate will also coordinate all shipping and logistics for events, ensuring smooth, timely delivery and efficient inventory management. This requires clear, professional communication with internal and external networks, and regular travel to meet partners and secure new opportunities.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of a post-secondary school program or equivalent work experience is required.
KEY ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will lead, coordinate, and manage multiple procurement and technical aspects of SCC hosted event, including but not limited to the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), National Skilled Trade and Technology Week (NSTTW), SCNC Planning Meetings, and WorldSkills (WS).
Event Lead Up/Post Event
- Secure, maintain, track, and facilitate partnerships to procure infrastructure required for events and Team Canada training ($3,000,000+ value).
- Communicate effectively with the National Technical Committees (NTC) and 100+ partners to identify logistical and infrastructure event requirements.
- Facilitate partner participation at the annual SCNC Planning Meeting where they will connect with NTC members to discuss available infrastructure.
- Track and manage infrastructure requests and partner-supplied infrastructure using online database software (SecureSheet).
- Coordinate and lead partner meetings across Canada (virtual and in-person). Prepare agendas, presentations, and meeting documents. Record all notes and action items,
conducting all follow-up requirements in a timely fashion.
- Perform detailed annual inventory and maintain records.
- Create and implement shipping schedules for partner deliveries and pickups.
- Communicate with Skills/Compétences Canada (SCC) shipping partner to orchestrate all shipping and logistic details relating to assets for which SCC is responsible.
- Provide internal departments with technical specifications on partner-supplied equipment as required.
- Review events floorplan to ensure proper placement of partner booth spaces.
- Use project management software to properly manage progress, data, expenses, and statistics (Monday.com).
- Use event management software to properly track partner participation at events and maintain contacts (EventsAir).
- Use communication software to effectively communicate with NTC members throughout the year as required (BrightSpace)
- Assist Business Development Account Manager with infrastructure requirements for Try-A-Trade® and Technology activities.
- Create, store and maintain files using Office365 in accordance with SCC naming and filing policies.
- Assist partners with post-event sale of equipment.
- Facilitate sponsored awards post-event.
- Occasionally work outside normal working hours
- Frequent domestic travel
- Occasional international travel, as required
- Other duties as required.
During Events
- Responsible for receiving, tracking, and directing all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Ensuring concise and accurate distribution on site as well as return logistics post-event.
- Ensure all partner-supplied items are identified, handled appropriately, and returned in good condition.
- Ensure all partner shipments arrive on time and help secure any missing infrastructure.
- Address partner and NTC questions and concerns.
- Receive and store important documents such as waybills and receipts. Submit to SCC Accountant post-event as required.
- Assist with competition setup and tear down, especially in areas where partners are involved.
- Manage volunteers.
- Other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE

WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a competitive compensation and vacation time package with fifteen personal/sick days per year (non-cumulative). We have a top rated, employer paid, employee benefits plan (health and dental).
Salary: $60,000-$62,000
