Highview Residences, K-W is a very special care home for people with dementia. Our home is set up like any home - only bigger. We are currently looking to hire a very special Food Services Coordinator. This job will allow you to combine your love of cooking and your leadership skills to manage the food services department within the home.
To be successful as a Highview Residences’ Coordinator you must have the following combination of attributes and qualifications:
- A warm, engaging, flexible approach that you bring to work – everyday
- Absolute commitment to the belief that people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can live meaningful lives surrounded by people who are committed to their well-being, security and care
- Ability to adapt to frequently changing and challenging situations
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related environment cooking, minimum of 2 years experience supervising a team
- Education requirements: graduate of culinary school (Sealed-Chef) and/or graduate of Nutrition & Food Services Management / Culinary Management college program or similar post-secondary education and graduation
- Consistent ability to respect and positively contribute to a multi-disciplinary, multi-task team environment
- A current clean Criminal Record/Police Check: Vulnerable Persons
- Must have current CPR and First Aid Certifications and Safe Food Handlers Certificate
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and a reliable vehicle
Responsibilities Include:
- Daily cooking of delicious meals for our residents
- Contribution to a site-specific weekly rotational menu, based upon the nutritional requirements of the population we serve and their individual dietary needs, based upon the care plan
- Budget and food costs management
- Purchase and/or order food and other supplies required to enable the preparation of meals and snacks, and to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the kitchen and related areas
- Supervise, train and direct a team of part time cooks, assigning responsibility as they prepare and present each meal
- Contributing in a collaborative manner within the management team
- Know the residents in each cottage(s),
in the House(s) at all times
- Greet and engage family members and friends when they visit
- Know and adhere to the stated menu, based upon a rotational plan
- Contribute to the development of the yearly food budget and manage the food budget for the House(s)
