Full job description
POSITION: Building Operator
DATE OF POSTING: October 15, 2024
WORK LOCATION: 2 O’Connor Drive
DATE REQUIRED: Immediate
HOURS OF WORK: 12-hour rotating shift
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and direction of the Manager,
Building Operations the Building Operator is responsible for:
· Operation/repair/ general maintenance and day-to-day monitoring of the building equipment including HVAC (pumps, motors, fans, VFDs, compressors, etc.), life safety systems, building automation systems, lighting and electrical systems, etc.
· General maintenance and repairs to department-specific equipment, including but not limited to, wheelchairs, beds, walkers, furniture, etc.
· Timely response/resolution of all resident requests logged through Angus Anywhere.
· Reviewing and monitoring contracted work to ensure safety and compliance with applicable standards.
· Assisting with the daily activities of the building and supporting other departments as necessary.
· Other duties as requested, i.e.: painting, drywall repairs, outdoor seasonal work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
· Building Operator Certificate (or working toward it), and 3 years related experience
· Knowledge of building systems (including building automation, heat pumps, HVAC, electrical and plumbing), Metasys software and Fire Safety are all definite assets
· Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including day, evening and weekend shifts, and on-call/ vacation/ emergency coverage
· A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to his/her own vehicle
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· ability to work and complete tasks assigned independently
· Working knowledge of various acts and codes including the OH&S; act, Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, etc.
